There are so many great dishes out there that can benefit from the use of steaming. People love to do things fast so they always microwave it or just throw it on the pan for a quick fry. This can be convenient, but you are missing out on a bunch of other recipes that could be enhanced even more. I particular love to steam foods, and I have been doing it for over four years.
My first steamer was a small model that was only a single tier. It didn’t cook enough food for me, so I ended up upgrading to a larger one with 2 tiers. Each week I look forward to using this appliance. I start with a layer of rice on the bottom since it takes longer to cook. On top of that I usually put my proteins or vegetables. I like to lay vegetables on the bottom with meat on the top, so the veggies and rice end up catching any drippings. This makes it so you don’t lose any flavor. Recently I’ve been trying out herb bags that help flavor the steam. This adds even another layer of flavor to my meals. Next I’m going to try some meat dishes, and hard root vegetables and see how well it cooks.
